IEEE is the world’s largest professional association for advancement of technology. IEEE Brainwaves is the Student Chapter (code: 60401) of the IEEE in Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi College of Engineering. It is duly recognized by the IEEE, USA. IEEE Brainwaves was established in 1997.The IEEE student chapter’s sole motive is to spread awareness regarding upcoming field of technology and keep interest groups to work together and take part in various competition. The present committee of IEEE student chapter comprises of 12 members with 56 student members.
Vision
IEEE will be essential to the global technical community and to technical professionals everywhere, and be universally recognized for the contributions of technology and of technical professionals in improving global conditions.
Mission
IEEE's core purpose is to foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity.Enhance public understanding of engineering and technology and pursue standards for their practical application.
The major seminar highlights and activities done by IEEE :
1 - SELF BALANCING ROBOT:
IEEE BRAINWAVES’s very first seminar was on the innovative self-balancing robot. This Seminar was attended by 40 students from all branches of engineering and was under the guidance of Prof. Prasad Joshi, Prof. Mayur Parulekar & Technical Head of the student chapter of IEEE- Krunal Chande.
2 - DEMO WORKSHOP – ROBOTIC ARM:
IEEE BRAINWAVES took up this initiative of spreading the knowledge and essence of the robotics. A Demo Workshop was conducted by students Anish Shah and Amol P from Electronics Dept. under the guidance of Rushabh Doshi who designed the SCARA Robot at The Tech Expo 2013. A continuous initiative is done to keep the Robotics chapter in IEEE active by engaging them in workshops conducted by IIT faculty.
3 - Real time operating systems (R.T.O.S.):
A First hands-on experience in Embedded Systems by Dr. Jonathan Joshi for understanding Embedded Systems & Controllers which has always been a forte of the Electronics Department & IEEE Chapter.
4 - Design Exploration Workshop:
Dr. Amarnath (IITB) conducted a week long workshop on The Design of Everyday Things. A one of its kind workshop for social engineering started with finding everday problems and engineering solutions which were innovative and cost effective.
5 - Technical Paper Presentation Techniques:
With an increase in awareness for research publication and presentation, Prof. Mayur Parulekar conducted a workshop in research paper presentation and publication techniques which was attended by members of IEEE society
6 - Self Drive Automated Vehicles:
The seminar of Self drive vehicles was done in collaboration with IITB. Prof. Mayur Parulekar conducted this workshop along with students from IIT B for the students of D. J Sanghvi. This seminar was to talk about recent developments in the Automobile sector and with focus on design and development of self- drive cars.
7 - Game On:
With focus being on software aware engineers IEEE has always taken an initiatve for overall development of students. This led to a series of weekend workshops on design of software games on the Unity 3D game development software which was conducted by Industry professionals in collaboration with IEEE.
